Pragmatic Coders featured in the “Mapping Poland’s Tech Sector” report

Poland is home to a thriving tech sector that has evolved with the country’s progress.
Poland has the potential to become a more inclusive and globally competitive home for entrepreneurship.
And we’re happy to be part of it since 2014.
Big thanks to Endeavor and Endeavor Poland for having us featured in their “Mapping Poland’s Tech Sector” report.
Here are a few key insights:
- ECONOMY AND TECH GO HAND IN HAND: Between 2008-2020, Poland’s GDP per capita grew by 44%. This economic growth happened alongside a big jump in the value of Poland’s tech industry.
- TECH KEEPS GROWING: There has been a shift towards more specialized tech companies since the early 2000s, with sectors like healthtech, gaming, fintech, and edtech.
- INVESTMENT NEEDS WORK: Even though there are more VC deals, it’s still hard for companies to get funding to help them grow further. The amount invested in Polish tech companies in 2022 was much lower than in France, Germany, and the UK in 2010. This suggests Poland’s tech scene is catching up to where those countries were over 10 years ago.
- WOMEN IN TECH: Not many tech companies started since 2013 have women founders (only 14%). There’s a small improvement though, with companies founded between 2018-2022 having slightly more women founders (16%) than those founded between 2013-2017 (13%).
- TOP CHALLENGE: Over 70% of founders in scaled companies reported finding qualified managers as the biggest difficulty for tech companies.
- SUCCESSFUL FOUNDERS MATTER: Successful companies, such as Docplanner and Booksy, have the potential for a global multiplier effect through mentorship, investment, and the formation of spinout companies – this shows how successful founders can have a big positive impact on the whole tech scene.
